The Yarrow flower is well known for its coagulative properties, allowing it to stop external bleeding in cuts and scrapes. It can stop heavy bleeding like bleeding wounds from a knife or weapon. Not only can it stop the bleeding, but it can also act as antibacterial and antimicrobial to the wounds, so it can help prevent infections. Yarrow is also famous for its ability to stop a nosebleed

Yarrow is indeed also as effective at breaking up congealed blood as it is at stopping hemorrhages. This makes this herb very helpful as a first-aid remedy for blood clots, blood blisters, bruises with bleeding beneath the skin and hemorrhoids. 

It is also antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory. This helps in the cleaning and healing of cuts and scrapes. In addition, its known to be beneficial to burns, bug bites, itching and the reduction of scarring and varicose veins. Yarrows astringent properties will help in the closing of open wounds as well.

Beyond yarrow’s medicinal uses, it has practical uses as well.  It’s used in natural insect repellants as well as homemade pesticide-free flea and tick powder for pets.
