What's The Deal With Honey & Garlic

Garlic and honey are two really great ingredients from nature that I think are greatly overlooked. They're both so easy to get your hands on and the benefits from taking them both daily are unlimited. They both have strong anti- inflammatory properties and are great at helping to fight off coughs, colds and the flu. They're also really great for your immune system.

Garlic itself has been known to reduce blood pressure, lower cholesterol,  prevent dementia and Alzheimers Disease, detoxify heavy metals from your body, improve bone health and some studies even show that it helps to reduce risks of cancer. Can you even imagine all of those benefits from just one little clove of garlic!

Now lets talk Honey. Honeys right up there with garlic. It's been known to help with weight loss, boost your immune system, boost your memory, get rid of coughs, help reduce dandruff, heal wounds, help you sleep better, treat eczema and even give you natural energy. I really could keep going all day but I'll stop there. I'm sure you're pickin up what I'm puttin down.

So my friends, as soon as you start to feel icky or just need a daily boost, snag this super simple concoction that I'll go over below and you'll feel better in no time!

FERMENTED HONEY GARLIC

Ingredients:

1 cup of peeled garlic cloves

1 1/2 cups of raw honey

1. Peel and chop garlic cloves and place them in a clean jar

2. Pour your honey in directly over the garlic cloves. Be sure not to use a metal spoon since honey has an acidic pH and reacts with metal surfaces

3. Place the lid on the jar. If the lid is metal be sure to place a square of parchment paper in between the lid and the jar before screwing it on.

4. Shake the jar around to make sure all of the garlic cloves are covered in honey

5. Place the jar in a dark place

6. Every 2-3 days unscrew the lid all the way and and screw it right back on. This is called burping and is done to release any pressure building up.

7. You may start to see tiny bubbles after a few days. This means the fermentation process has started. Every other day open and stir.

8. Let it sit for about a week and a half and then its ready to use.

*Take 1 teaspoon of honey with a small bit of garlic in it daily when healthy and 3 teaspoons when you aren't feeling well

* This can be stored at room temperature for one month or refrigerated to last longer
